The Farm Experience
On arrival, you’ll be given a full tour of the farm, usually by Farmer George, who will introduce you to the land, the animals and the way we farm.
We raise a wide range of livestock, and you’ll have the chance to meet them and, if you’d like, help us with their daily care.
During the winter months, you can feed the pigs carrots and fallen apples. At certain times of year, we may also have orphan lambs, calves or kids needing bottle-feeding – a particularly special part of the farm experience. Occasionally, you might even be lucky enough to witness a lamb being born, although this is one thing we can never schedule and is purely a matter of chance!
Eat from the farm
You’re welcome to help yourself to our seasonal produce and freshly laid eggs, we’ll show you what’s ready to pick and enjoy during your stay.
In summer, that might mean pumpkins and butternut squash, tomatoes, chillies (Russian roulette!), peppers, carrots, beetroot, Jerusalem artichokes, calabrese, purple sprouting broccoli and Florence fennel.
There’s also an abundance of salad and leafy greens – rocket, beet leaves and mixed lettuces, alongside spinach, Chinese cabbage, Japanese kale, Oriental mustards, chrysanthemum greens, pak choi and spinach mustard.
As winter progresses, the selection naturally changes. While some of the summer crops disappear towards Christmas, we continue to have plenty of fresh leafy greens and salad leaves throughout the colder months.
Then, as spring arrives, the farm comes back to life. By Easter, we’re looking forward to fresh garlic, mangetout peas, new potatoes, radishes, rhubarb and globe artichokes.
And then comes the fruit… The orchard is dripping with plums, apples and pears!
Theres nothing quite like harvesting and eating farm food!
